Michael Milnes, who practices Physical Therapy today in Rochester, MN, dreamed as a college student of making a career of teaching sports to kids, even while he continued to enjoy athleticism in all its forms. His career focus changed when he was injured and had to undergo physical therapy. While admitting that he developed a crush on his physical therapist initially, Milnes soon found physical therapy a fascinating field in its own right.
Michael Milnes lives in Rochester, MN today, where he has practiced as a Physical Therapist for 18 years. Milnes earned his postgraduate Doctor of Physical Therapy in 1996 from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, and was licensed to practice that same year. “I have definitely found my calling…” says Milnes. “…I love my job and I’m good at it. “(I know) that what I do is really making a positive impact in the lives of my patients.” Physical therapy is also known as Physiotherapy. It is part of the health professions which use mechanical force and bio-mechanics, manual therapies, exercise and electrotherapy to remediate physical impairments and improve human mobility and function. Physical therapist Michael Milnes strives to improve his patients’ quality of life by examining, diagnosing and physically intervening to affect the workings of their muscles and movements. According to the needs of each patient, Milnes may customize an individual plan for the client, or work with other medical professionals to provide the best coordinated care.
